Feb 10. Finger Of God

Exodus 30:11-31:18;  Matthew 26:47-68;  Psalm 32: 1-11;  Proverbs 8:37-32

A really old TV sitcom, “Bewitched” featured a beautiful blond woman who could alter, change, control and create with the twitch of her nose.  Came in pretty handy–especially in challenging situations…twitch..twitch.

God used his finger and the spoken Word to alter, control, create, change and– take notes.

Consider…“And God said, ‘Let there be light’…and God said, ‘Let there be an expanse between the waters’…and God said, ‘Let us make man in our own image.’  God saw all that he had made  and it was very good.”  Genesis 1, selected verses.

God even completed his own dictation for Moses when giving the Commandments, “When the Lord finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the testimony, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.”  Exodus 31:18

I’m reminded of a quote by the missionary to China, Hudson Taylor,  who said, “God’s work, done in God’s ways will never lack God’s supplies.”  christian-quotes.oChristian.com

Hudson was undoubtedly familiar with God’s provision of the tablets of stone ‘written by the finger of God’…and of God’s equipping particular Israelites with special abilities to complete the Tabernacle, “I have chosen Bezalel…and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability, and knowledge in all kinds of crafts…I have appointed Oholiab to help him.  Also, I have given skills to all the craftsmen to make everything I have commanded you…”  Ex. 31:2-6

Bottom Line:  When God has a special project in mind He for his people He provides the necessary means to get ‘er done.

What project is He involving you in this year?  He will equip you with His Holy Spirit and the unique abilities, skills, and resources to ‘get ‘er done’.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20

Lord God Heavenly Father, you graciously provide us with everything we need to do the work you’ve called us to do.  Thank you for your Holy Spirit and the lives of other believers to nudge and direct us.  May we use our God-given skills and abilities to serve others and to spread the Good News.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen

“Then I was the craftsman at his side.  I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence, rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.”  Proverbs 8: 30-31
