Leviticus 19:1-20:21; Mark 8: 11-38; Psalm 42:1-11; Proverbs 10:17
Alone with the Twelve, Jesus warns them against the faithlessness of the Pharisees “Watch out; beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”
Huh? ….oh no…we only have one loaf of bread with us–that won’t go far among all of us!
OK. Time for a little review. “When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?”
“And the seven for the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces were taken up?”
“And He said to them, “Do you not yet understand?”
What does he mean? We just want to have enough to eat….
Lord God, are we so focused on having our stomachs filled that we fail to see You for who You are–The Christ–the Bread of Life!
Are we so slow of learning?
We know we are. And we are forever grateful that You are patient with us.
Please forgive our slowness to believe. Grant us Your Holy Spirit to fill us and satisfy us with true Spiritual Food. Lead us to proclaim boldly, “You are the Christ!” For Jesus’ Sake, Amen.
“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” Psalm 42:1-2
