June 25 It Matters Not

2 Kings 8:1-9:13;  Acts 16:16-40;  Psalm 143:1-12;  Proverbs 17:26

It matters not…

two godly men freed a demon possessed girl–then suffered the wrath of her owners.

It matters not…

that two innocent men landed in jail, bloodied from a flogging.

It matters not…

the pain and injustice of it all.

Because God works wonders

…through prayers and hymns from the lips of the unjustly jailed.

…through a shivering, shaking earth that undid the chains.

…through the Word of God that freed a jailer who asked, “what must I do to be saved?”

And Paul and Silas replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.”  Acts 16:31

It matters not…your past.

It matters not…your present.

It matters not…what you do.

What really matters–

Is that Christ the Savior did it all for you.

Lord God, you used Paul and Silas to bring your healing word to the darkest of prisons–the souls of men living without you.  Many were freed from sin and death through their faithful witness to you.  Lord, please use us no matter what to speak of your unfailing love;  to praise you when times are difficult; to continue to pray when things look hopeless.  Thank you for hearing our prayers.  In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

“For your name’s sake, O Lord,

preserve my life;

in your righteousness,

bring me out of trouble.

In your unfailing love,

silence my enemies;

destroy all my foes,

for I am your servant.”

                             Psalm 143:11-12
