2 Chronicles 1:1-3:17; Romans 6:1-23; Psalm 16:1-11; Proverbs 19:20-21
“Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness. When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord!” Romans 6:19-23
Lord God, Heavenly Father I give you my thanks and praise for peeling off the bonds of sin that held me firmly in its grip and made me do its bidding. I was indeed a slave to sin, but you set me free by sending your son, Jesus who allowed himself to be bound by the confines of humanness with all its weakness and limitations, bound and handed over to be crucified. Lord, I willingly desire to be a slave to righteousness–to be bound to a perfect Master who wills nothing but good and love and peace and life everlasting for me. May I live for you this day and tell others how you set me free! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
“You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” Psalm 16:11
