me to suffer for the sake of Christ,

if I do not see such suffering as the

then I know nothing of Calvary love.”

Lord God Heavenly Father, we tend to view suffering as something to avoid at all costs.  But what it costs us is an opportunity to grow into your likeness.  Help us to be clear eyed and true when we see our brothers and sisters–or ourselves–facing hardship, suffering.  May we be faithful prayer warriors on their behalf, trusting that you are with them.  We thank you for your suffering on our behalf which opened the door to our salvation.  May we be found faithful and loving and kind–even in the midst of suffering.  For Jesus’ sake, Amen.

  1. It is difficult to accept suffering and even more challenging to call it pure joy as James does in James 1:2-3
2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
However, when we do, we come to realize that the suffering serves a purpose for us and for others. May we keep our eyes on Him in the midst of our suffering and know He is there and He is working. Blessings!
