“Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,  for He will speak peace to his people, to his saints;

 but let them not turn back to folly.

Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.

Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;

Faithfulness springs up from the ground and righteousness looks down from the sky.”

Psalm 85:7-11

Surround sound systems engulf music aficionados.  They transport their listeners to worlds where notes and pauses, voices and instruments stir imaginations and heighten the emotions.

Songwriters–the sons of Korah–transported worshippers with their words in Psalm 85 above the heads of their enemies.  As returned exiles, feelings of insecurity and fear followed.   The words of the Psalm beckoned them to remember who their God is–how powerful He is to save, to forgive, to protect!

God surrounds us with His words of love and compassion.  He forgives our sins.  He promises His faithfulness and righteousness and peace through His Son, Jesus.

Such sweet sound surrounds us!

Lord God thank you for your faithfulness which surrounds us with encouragement and strengthens our faith.  Forgive us our sins for Jesus’ sake and may we rest assured this night of your unconditional pardon and peace.  Our hearts sing your praises for they are lightened of their guilt load, no longer weighing us down.  Our praises rise to You, O Lord!  Amen.

Oh, may our tongues forever bless,

May we love you alone

And ever in our lives express

The image of your own.
