Lamentations 2:20-3:66;  Hebrews 1:1-14;  Psalm 102:1-28;  Proverbs 26:21-22

“Let this be recorded for a generation to come, so that a people yet to be created may praise the Lord;  that He looked down from His holy height;  from heaven the Lord looked at the earth to hear the groans of the prisoners, to set free those who were doomed to die, so that they may declare in Zion the name of the Lord and in Jerusalem his praise, when peoples gather together, and kingdoms,  to worship the Lord.”  Psalm 102:18-22

Heaven to Earth

He sees

sin-bound captives

 longing to be free.

He zooms in

laser-focus

on their sins,

on their sorrows,

on their cares.

The Father sends the Son

and refocuses,

sees something new:

Love incarnate,

Perfect obedience,

Sacrificial Lamb.

He zooms in

on a crown of thorns,

nail-pierced hands,

body broken,

 blood-soaked tree

and sees

the sins of all.

He turns his head away

from His beloved Son

who cries out

“It is finished!”

It is done.

Heaven to Earth

God zooms in

and sees the empty tomb,

the neatly folded grave cloths

and angels standing

around His Son

now bearing His victory crown.

Through eyes of faith

we see what God

saw all along–

His great love for man,

His plan to set

us  free.

Lord God, thank you for not turning away from us in all our sin.  Thank you for zooming in on our lives and providing a way out of eternal captivity and despair.  Thank you for your Son whose death set us free.  Use us Lord to bring your Good News of Salvation to other captives that they too may be free.  In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;  His mercies never come to an end;  they are new every morning.  Great is your faithfulness!”  Lamentations 3:22-23
