November 18 Hope for Bones

Ezekiel 37:1-38:23;  James 1:19-2:17;  Psalm 117;  Proverbs 28:1

“Then he said to me: ‘Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel.

They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone;

we are cut off.’

Therefore prophecy to them…

I will put my Spirit in you and you will live.'”

Ezekiel 37:11,14

Hope for bones.

Hope for people cut off from the land

of the living.

Hope for you and me.

Creator of Heaven and Earth, blow your life giving breath into us this day.  Where we are parched, quench us with your life giving Word.  Fill us with the Holy Spirit.  Move our stiff, disobedient limbs.  Generate faith within our hearts to hold us together when tempests storm and rage about us and we are shaken to our foundations.  To those touched by tragedy and loss in Illinois and other Midwest areas, grant your life sustaining hope and come to their aid.  Continue to bless the ongoing relief efforts in the Philippines.  For Jesus’ sake, Amen.

“Praise the Lord, all you nations,

extol him, all you peoples.

For great is his love toward us,

and the faithfulness of the Lord

endures forever.”

Psalm 117:1-2
