December 4 Overcomer

Daniel 11:36-12:13;  1 John 4:1-2;  Psalm 123:1-4;  Proverbs 29:2-4

“By this you know the Spirit of God:  every spirit that confesses that

Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,

and every spirit that does not confess Jesus

is not from God.

This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard

was coming and now is in the world already.

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them,

for he who is in you is greater than he who is

in the world.”

1 John 4:2-4

Satan on the prowl

knocking on the door

he’s no gentleman

he’ll bust the door down.

He will try but he

won’t succeed.

Someone far greater

awaits him.

Christ on my heart throne

rises up

stares down evil and says,

“‘you’re done for evil one,

remember the Cross?

You can’t come in here,

you thief of the night.

Be gone Satan!”

He flees.

“Greater is he who is in me than

he who is in the world.”

Lord God, the battle is real–Satan still prowls, but you O Lord are our Defender.  By faith you dwell in our hearts–we belong to you.  Nothing can separate us from your love.  For this we give you our thanks and praise!  Grant that we be vigilant this day, to test the ‘spirits’ and remain firm in the faith.  May we not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good–with your love.  In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
