Exodus 30:11-31-18; Matthew 26:47-68; Psalm 32:1-11; Proverbs 8:27-32
“I (Wisdom) was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the foundations of the deep, when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth. Then I was the craftsman at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.” Proverbs 8:27-31
“…but we preach Christ crucified, …Christ the power of God and wisdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:23-24
I can’t help but catch the excitement of Jesus-the Wisdom of God-as He watched creation unfold–God rolling out the grasses and the trees and the shrubs; fashioning horses, cats, lizards, eels and eagles; and crowning it all with man and woman created in His own image–complete, lacking nothing!
And Jesus saying, ‘Let’s celebrate!’
And Father God saying, ‘Let’s rest!’
Lord God, what joy and delight you took in the Creation! You took great delight in mankind who mirrored your likeness until…and we remember how far mankind fell–far from your presence, separated by sin. But because of your Son, Jesus, you rejoice again in new creations. At our Baptism, through water and the Word, you made us your children. Through faith the “old has passed away, the new has come!” Thank you for giving us new life through Jesus! Thank you for the new us! Thank you for Christ crucified–the Wisdom of God forever and ever! In His name we pray, Amen.
