Numbers 15:17-16:40; Mark 15:1-47; Psalm 54:1-7; Proverbs 11:5-6
“The Lord said to Moses, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘Throughout the generations to come you are to make tassels on the corner of your garments with a blue cord on each tassel. You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the Lord, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves by going after the lusts of your own hearts and eyes. Then you will remember to obey all my commands and will be consecrated to your God. I am the Lord your God. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord your God.” Numbers 15:37-41
Lord God, during this season of Lent we are reminded of why Your Son had to suffer and die on the Cross–because even with tassels and cords our weak human flesh failed and could not do what you commanded. Now we have the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ in Bread and Wine to help us remember, to help us live for you. Thank you for this Remembrance. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
