Deuteronomy 9:1-10:22; Luke 8:4-21; Psalm 69:19-36; Proverbs 12:2-3
“No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be made known and come to light. Take care then how you hear, for to the one who has, even more will be given, and from one who has not, even what little he thinks that he has will be taken away.” Luke 8:16-18
What kind of spiritual interior decorator am I?
Do I color my inner rooms with hues that suit my mood? Happy Talk Yellow? Pep Me Up Pink? Go Get ‘Em Green?
Do the designs I choose reflect serious thought and consideration or the latest passing fancy? Abiding Classic Theology? Hodgepodge New Age Mixed together with Christianity?
How about accessories? Does the light of the Gospel sit prominently on a table of honor or have I relegated it only as a night light in a dark hall?
Jesus was concerned about his “hearers” true colors. He told them that those who truly listened to His words and believed–would put His words into practice.
Belief and actions would reflect the harmony of His spiritual design for His followers.
His life in them–and us–by faith would color their day to day living with His true colors!
Lord God, may our lives reflect the true colors of faith in your Son Jesus Christ. Forgive us when we fail to let your light shine–when our actions betray your holiness–when we sin and fall short of your glory. Forgive us for Jesus’ sake. Keep us grounded in your Word where the light of the Gospel shines brightly. Let us not be tempted by alternative designs for customized spirituality offered by the Prince of this world–Satan–who masquerades as an angel of light. Help us reflect your True Colors for all to see. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
