April 16 Fervent Prayer

Joshua 13:1-14:15;  Luke 18:1-17;  Psalm 85:1-13;  Proverbs 13:7-8

“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.  He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God or cared about men.  And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

“For some time he refused.  But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care about men, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually wear me out with her coming!”  Luke 18:1-5

“If I have not the patience of my

Savior with souls who grow

if I know little of travail (a sharp

and painful thing) till Christ be

fully formed in them,

then I know nothing of Calvary love.”

~Amy Carmichael

Lord God, you did not give up on me.  You heard the prayers of those who faithfully brought my name before your throne of Grace asking that I might know your Love.  Thank you for hearing their fervent prayers and for answering them!  Now, Lord, help me to not grow weary in my praying for those who need to know your love and grace and mercy.  For we who have eyes to see the wonders of Salvation must intercede for those who don’t.  May our knees bear the weight of Calvary Love, for Jesus’ sake, Amen.
