June 13 I Am Content

1 Kings 11:1-12:19;  Acts 9:1-25;  Psalms 131:1-3;  Proverbs 17:4-5

“O Lord, my heart is not lifted up;  my eyes are not raised too high;  I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.  But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother;  like a weaned child is my soul within me.”  Psalm 131

I am content

to not know all the mysteries

of the world

even what my life will be like

a year from now or twenty.

I am content

to know that my God and Savior

holds the keys

to all things unknown

and His promise,

“I will never leave you nor forsake you”

anchors my future.

I am content

at peace

filled with God’s Word

of love,

knowing Him who is patient and kind,

never envious or rude,

who rejoices in truth,

who bears all things, believes all things,

hopes all things and endures all things.

I am content

with the image of the Cross,

the empty tomb,

and the cloud

Jesus to Heaven;

with the angel words

“This Jesus,

who was taken from you

into heaven,

will come again

in the same way as you

saw him go into heaven.”

I am content,

and so full

of praise

this day!

  1. contentment is, I think, something we all silently yearn for and don’t even realize that is what we seek—to be content–not knowing all mysteries is so true but our world doesn’t seem to ever be content and constantly seeks to “prove” God—
oh but to rest in His grace. . . .

    • yes….His grace IS the place of rest! 🙂 I really enjoyed seeing pics from your son’s wedding. So special! I may not have Winston at my side like you, but I’ll still carry on like a queen Mum! 🙂 Blessings ~ Laura

      • I’d send him to you but I think Abby wants to put him up in their new little house—which makes Gregory most happy—I think he tired of having to constantly catch himself thinking someone was in the house 🙂
Is your big day next weekend?

  2. It is! In the blink of an eye, it will be all over. But I hope to get some good photos and to enjoy visiting with all of the family and friends who will be gathering in Des Moines one week from tonight. (thanks for thinking of sharing Winston. 🙂
