2 Kings 6:1-7:20;  Acts 15:36-16:15;  Psalm 142:1-7;  Proverbs 17:24-25

“The discerning sets his face towards wisdom, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.”  Proverbs 17:24

“The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.”  Proverbs 15:14

“For this commandment that I command you today is not too hard for you, neither is it far off.  It is not in heaven that you should say, ‘Who will ascend to heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear and do it?’  Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’  But the word is very near you.  It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.”  Deuteronomy 30:11-14

Whether it’s reading and following street maps or listening to and doing what our GPS tells us, we use these aids to get us to our destination.  Most of the time, if we do exactly what we’ve been told we arrive at exactly the spot we want to be.

God’s Word is our GPS.  In it we learn how to reach our destination–Heaven.  We learn that it is through faith in Jesus Christ who died on the Cross for our sins and rose victorious over sin, death and the devil and that He will come again to escort us to our Heavenly Home.

Until that time, His Word is in our hearts and minds equipping us to live a life pleasing to Him.  When our sinful nature which still clings to us causes us to act foolishly we have the assurance of Christ’s forgiveness.

“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom…”  Colossians 3:16

Lord God, thank you for your Holy Word which directs us to Your Son Jesus Christ–that in Him we have the Way to Heaven.  Keep us on the narrow way and may your Word continue to guide us.  For Jesus’ sake we pray, Amen.
