September 9 Behind the Masks

Mask

Isaiah 3:1-5:30;  2 Corinthians 11:1-15;  Psalm 53:1-6;  Proverbs 22:28-29

St. Paul writes:  “I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.  But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your pure devotion to Christ.  For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough…

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ.  And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.  It is not surprising then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness.  Their actions will be what their actions deserve.”  2 Corinthians 11:2-4, 13-15

Lord God, may I always look to your Word for the truth about Jesus and what He has done for me.  Please give me a discerning ear and to ‘test’ the words of others who speak in your Name.  Open my eyes to see behind the masks and to reject all that would claim another way to Heaven.  Thank you for the faith given to me to know you as my Lord and Savior.  Keep me true to You.  For Jesus’ sake, Amen
