 Isaiah 45:11-48:11;  Ephesians 4:1-16;  Psalm 68:19-35;  Proverbs 24:3-4

“Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him, who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”  Ephesians 4:11-16

Growing up in Christ

means what exactly?

To me it means:

That when I hear deep rumbles of racism,

wars, increasing poverty,

deadly spread of disease,

broken families,

broken hearts

I pause

to listen and pray

to seek God’s face

to ask for His mercy

to implore that I will let

His love seep through the cracks

through me

to make His truth known

to bind up the wounds

and stop the flow

of loss and despair.

Lord God, grant that we

who know and love you

be Light bearers

unafraid to speak

Your truth

to live in sacrificial love

towards our neighbors.

With the same measure of

Your forgiveness,

let us forgive.

With the same depth of love,

which you have shown us,

let us love.

For Jesus’ sake

we pray,

“Having been purified yourselves by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart.”  1 Peter 1:22
