Jeremiah 6:15:-8:7;  Colossians 2:8-23; Psalm 78:1-31;  Proverbs 24:26

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus, the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you were taught, abounding in Thanksgiving.  See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy or empty deceit according to human traditions, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.”

Colossians 2:6-8

“The Church’s one foundation is

Jesus Christ, her Lord.

She is His new Creation by Water

and the Word.

From heav’n He came and sought her

to be His holy bride;

with His own blood he bought her

and for her life He died.”

~Samuel Stone

Now substitute your name for ‘The Church’s’ and read the  the hymn again inserting personal pronouns ‘I’m, me, and my.’

Pretty powerful–and very real!

~

It’s all His doing

I can safely say

without doubt or hesitation.

He, who began a good work in me

in Baptism,

when sins were washed away

and I was given the clean clothes of

righteousness,

is still at work in me-

Praise God-

making me more like Him

as I read His Word

and walk in His ways

and letting Him do His work in me.

It’s all His doing

and without His doing

I wouldn’t be doing

a single thing

worth doing!

Lord God, guard our hearts and minds this day from any philosophy or teaching that points us AWAY from Jesus;  that minimizes or rejects Him as the Way, the Truth and the Life.  Help us to grow strong in your Truth–to be rooted deeply in your Son, Jesus Christ, so that when storms and trials of life beat against us, we will be found faithful, standing strong in Him who loves us and gave Himself for us.  Thank you, Lord, for your work in our hearts!  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
