“Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one’s friend springs from his earnest counsel.” ~ Proverbs 27:9
I imagine if I looked a bit on Facebook I could find one of those online “tests” that would categorize me as one scent or another: woodsy, floral, citrus, romantic, adventuresome, alluring, etc. Let me know if there is one out there–I’m curious, now!
Talking about scents, they say that memories are evoked especially through the sense of smell. If you could bottle the scent of horsehide, oats and saddle leather, I’d buy it! That would evoke wonderful past time memories of long horseback rides and wide open skies so dear to my heart.
Do you have a special scent that brings joy to your heart?
How about a friend whose presence brings a smile to your face, eases your burdens, makes you feel like all is well with the world just by being there and sharing a cup of coffee? Whose honest and open counsel makes you feel loved and cherished?
Those friends linger in our hearts and minds. Cherish them. Thank God for them!
Lord God, thank you for dear friends who speak the truth in love, who cheer our hearts, and encourage us in our walk with you. Thank you for being the truest friend of all; one whose Word soothes our sorrows, grants us forgiveness, erases our guilt, and lifts us up! To you we give all thanks and praise! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
