Ezekiel 21:1-22:31;  Hebrews 10:1-17;  Psalm 108:1-13;  Proverbs 27:12

“And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.  But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting….For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.” Hebrews 10:11-14

The blood of bulls and goats and lambs

could not do what the single perfect Lamb,

the Lamb of God sent from Heav’n

did

once for all on Calvary’s hill.

Christ,

the once-for all-time sacrifice

let His life blood flow

from His head, His hands,

His feet, His side

covering all our sins

of pride and lust,

and murder and stealing

and covetousness,

lying, cheating,

despising all that is right and true.

He said, “I will remember their sins and their

lawless deeds no more.” (Jeremiah 31:33

Though we continue to sin,

it is “sin without wrath.” (Luther)

Because of Christ’s sacrifice,

we receive daily,

the forgiveness of sins.

We are perfect in God’s sight–

miracle of miracles.

He sees Christ in us,

the Perfect Lamb,

the Once and Done Lamb of God.

“The Lamb, the Lamb,

One perfect, final offering.

The Lamb, the Lamb,

let earth join Heav’n

His praise to sing!

Worthy is the Lamb

Whose death makes me His own!

The Lamb is reigning on His throne!”

Lord God, we thank and praise you for the ultimate sacrifice paid for our sins–Your Son, Jesus Christ.  Please forgive our sins this day, for His name’s sake.  May we remember His great sacrifice when we partake in the Lord’s Supper and when we come before you with prayers of repentance.  Continue to sanctify us–to make us holy as we live out our days to the glory of Your Holy Name.  In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
