Daniel 6:1-28; 2 Peter 3:1-18; Psalm 119:129-152; Proverbs 28:21-22
Remember Daniel
humble servant of God most High
exiled from his homeland,
away from God’s House,
but always in His presence
by faith.
~
Remember Daniel
braving the wrath of foreign kings:
Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar,
and Darius
stayed true to the One
True God
who opened his eyes
to understand what the seers,
astrologers, magicians and enchanters
could not.
~
Remember Daniel
who interpreted dreams
and read the handwriting
on the wall
because he humbled himself
before the Lord of Lords
and not the gods
of foreign kings.
~
Remember Daniel
on his knees in prayer
surrounded by lions with jaws
snapped shut
held tight in the grip of angels
through the night.
~
If you’re staring into
the eyes of lions
or the writing on the wall
remember Daniel
and pray
and trust God with
your life!
He is the same God of whom
Darius King of the Medes
declared:
“For he is the living God
and he endures forever;
his kingdom will not be destroyed,
his dominion will never end.
He rescues and he saves;
he performs signs and wonders
in the heavens and on the earth.
He has rescued Daniel
from the power of the lions.”
Daniel 6:26-27
Lord God, thank you for rescuing us from our enemies–sin, death and Satan. We know that we can come to you in times when lesser enemies threaten our walk with you–that may even threaten our very life. We trust you to keep us ever near to you and to your love. We give you all our thanks and praise! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
