Daniel 11:2-35;  1 John 3:7-24;  Psalm 122:1-9;  Proverbs 29:1

“This is how we know what love is:  Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.

And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.  If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?

~

“Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth.  This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us, for God is greater than our hearts and he knows everything.

~

“Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.  And this is his command:  to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.”  1 John 3:16-23

Believe and love

Two simple commands

impossible to do

on our own

yet so desired by our God

above that He

emptied himself of his glory

and came down

from heaven

to help us.

Believe and love,

Christ on the Cross

unlocked the door

as his life-blood

covered our sins

and opened up

a new world of possibilities

of living and loving

in his name.

Believe and love,

gifts of doing

 we offer to Him

coming to claim us,

to show himself as

the Redemption ticket,

the barrier to Heaven

to pop up

and we will all go in

rejoicing,

rejoicing,

rejoicing

forever!

Thank you, Lord God, for providing us the means to believe and love, gifting us with faith through the Spirit to believe on the name of Jesus and to love sacrificially, truthfully and with no concern for self.  Lord, you enable us to live beyond what we are incapable of doing on our own.  What grace you have lavished on us through Jesus!  May we believe and love to your glory until you come again!  In Jesus’ name, Amen!
