January 9 Watching Out

Genesis 20:1-22:24;  Matthew 7:15-29; Psalm 9:1-12;  Proverbs 2:16-22

“Watch out for false prophets.  They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.  By their fruit you will recognize them.  Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?  Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.  A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.  Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.  Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.”  Matthew 7:15-20

“Test the spirits.”

If someone preaches

the “right” way to Heaven

but never mentions

the name of Jesus,

beware.

If a teaching

speaks only of

good works

to do,

but

fails to mention

what Christ

did for you,

for all,

beware.

Above all

pray for discernment,

fact-check

with God’s Word

and don’t let

“itching”

ears

lead you

away

from His truth.

  1. Beautifully put Laura—all of the news with its attention to the false prophets of our times and of the rise of those who’s misguided religion has them fighting and killing just to die for a false prophet, has certainly had this topic in the forefront of my thoughts as of late.
Thank you for this Laura—a warm hug—Julie
