Leviticus 11:1-12:8; Mark 5:21-43; Psalm 38:1-22; Proverbs 10:8-9
“The wise of heart will receive commandments,
but a babbling fool will
come to ruin.
Whoever walks in integrity
walks securely,
but he who makes his way crooked
will be found out.”
Proverbs 10:8-9
Solomon dishes out some good advice for those wanting to get through life on both feet and to be found in the right place at the end of it.
He upholds those who listen and heed God’s commands.
He exposes the folly of those who go their own way. Babbling fools walking crooked ways just don’t make it.
But wait…who hasn’t been a babbling fool or one following their own path?
Been there. Done that. Still do. Babble, babble, babble. It’s called sin.
So where will I find myself at the end of my life?
Thanks be to God He gave us One wise hiker–His son Jesus Christ who followed perfectly His Father’s commands and walked the walk of integrity! Whose death on the Cross paved the way for sinful hikers like us and whose victory over sin, death and Satan smooths our way to Him.
And because I believe that He did it for us babbling fools who were hopelessly lost on sin’s path, we can now walk confidently with Him on the road to life everlasting.
Lord Jesus, thank you for saving us from eternal ‘lostness’ –that through faith in You we have assurance of reaching Heaven’s doors! Please keep us on the narrow path that leads to life everlasting. In Your precious name we pray, Amen.
