Anything Good?

“Many are asking, “Who can show us anything good?”

Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord.

You have filled my heart with greater joy

than when their grain

and new wine abound.

I will lie down and sleep in peace,

for you alone, O Lord,

make me dwell in safety.”

Psalm 4:6-8

Lord God, You are good.  When we look for something “good” in this world it dims in light of Your grace and mercy.  You have given us peace in our hearts by turning Your face towards us–we have seen You face to face through Your Son Jesus Christ our Lord who obediently became the sacrifice for our sins.  There are no greater riches than the freedom from sin and guilt found in Your forgiveness.  Help us to live this day in joyful response to all of Your good gifts to us. For Jesus’ sake, Amen.

July 6 How Do You Spell Relief?

1 Chronicles 2:18-4:4; Acts 24:1-27; Psalm 4:1-8; Proverbs 18:16-18
Relief
“Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
be merciful to me and hear my prayer.

How Long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?
Know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself;
the Lord will hear when I call to him.

In you anger do not sin;
when you are on your beds,
search your hearts and be silent.

Offer right sacrifices
and trust the Lord.
Many are asking, Who can show us any good?”
Let the light of your face shine upon
us, O Lord.

You have filled my heart with greater joy
than when their grain and new wine abound.
I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for you alone, O Lord,
make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4

How do you spell relief?

G. O. D.

G–Go to God
O–Offer him the sacrifice of praise
D–Depend on Him

Lord God, when I am faced with difficulties and problems and I feel like I’ve hit the wall, may I be reminded that I can come to you in prayer–anytime, day or night and that you will hear. When difficulties and challenges surround me may I have praise on my lips in quiet confidence that you know my needs and my situation and that now– as in the past– you will take care of me. Lord, may I be willing to turn my worries and dilemmas over to you trusting in your divine wisdom and everlasting love to see me through. Thank and praise you for your grace and mercy in my life–thank you for wrapping me up in your blanket of peace and giving me rest. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen
